This is an incredibly elegant and substantial lidded box from the prestigious German porcelain maker, Rosenthal. It is a luxurious example of the Art Deco or Art Nouveau revival styles, distinguished by its stunning use of precious metals on a deep black ground.

Striking Black Enamel: The porcelain body is finished with a lustrous, deep black enamel glaze, providing a dramatic, mirror-like backdrop.
Genuine Silver Decoration: As confirmed by the owner, the entire decorative scrolling vine and leaf pattern is executed in Silver Inlay / Silver Overlay. This method involves permanently fusing or depositing the silver onto the porcelain surface.
Note: Many comparable Rosenthal pieces from this era used genuine Sterling Silver for the decoration, though this is not always stamped on the porcelain.
Hand-Painted Floral Detail: The center of the lid features a magnificent, vividly hand-painted flower (rose or similar blossom) in rich shades of pink and cream, topped with a polished silver-tone knob.
