This magnificent vintage lidded jar is a superb example of Baroness Hand Painted China by the skilled Staffordshire Craftsmen of England, likely dating from the mid-20th century.

Exceptional Quality and Provenance
This piece is particularly special because it is hand-signed by the noted artist J. Mottram near the base. Mottram is known to have been a highly accomplished china painter, with connections to prestigious factories like Coalport, and his work for the Staffordshire Craftsmen pieces is highly sought after by collectors.

Design and Condition
The jar features a rich, vibrant, all-over still-life of autumnal fruit, including apples, pears, and deep purple grapes and berries, set against a warm, blended backdrop of browns, golds, and burnt oranges. The intense colors and detailed brushwork exemplify the high-quality standards of British hand-painted china.

The jar has a classic, globular ginger jar shape. The rim of the jar and the lid are finished with a delicate gold gilt trim.

Condition: This piece is in excellent vintage condition as a display item, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The hand-painted colors remain bright and clear.

Dimensions
This is a fine decorative accent piece:
Height (with lid): 10.5 cm (approximately 4.1 inches)
Width (at widest point): 9.5 cm (approximately 3.7 inches)
Base Diameter: 7 cm (approximately 2.75 inches)

This signed jar makes a stunning accent piece for a display cabinet, dining room hutch, or mantle, perfect for collectors of quality British pottery or fine art ceramics.
